Description: 
The Technical Writer is responsible for generating innovative ideas for content while working both independently and collaboratively as part of a technical team supporting both networking and computing disciplines. The position researches products, services, technology or concepts to be documented and easily understood by a broad audience from engineers to executives.

Some of the duties and responsibilities of the Technical Writer include:
  • Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for greatest reader comprehension.
  • Generate innovative ideas for content, process and technical solutions.
  • Produce, edit, and format technical presentations, documents, and spreadsheets
  • Meet with subject-matter experts to ensure specialized topics are appropriately addressed.
  • Analyze information required for the development or update of policy, procedure and form documentation.
  • Review and/or copyedit content developed by other members of the team.
  • Participate in project meetings and is responsible for project tracking and analysis.
  • Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables.
  • Works on high-visibility programs, or mission critical aspects of assigned program(s).
Required Skills:
  • PMP Certification
  • Consult with management and customers regarding product feasibility and viability of network infrastructure plans and designs, and includes emerging technology and product supportability into design and implementation.
Requirements:
  • *** PMP Certification Required
  • Fluency in technical and common office software (e.g. Power point, Word, Excel, and Visio)
  • Ability to pay attention to details
  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to take on new challenges and build on current skills
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Ability to multi-task and be a self-starter
  • Ensure technical documentation is accurate and complete, meets editorial and specifications, and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style;
  • Create, edit, modify and maintain version control of forms/documents and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure timely updating of policies, procedures, and processes along with the identification of issue items;
  • Coordinate with IT business owners, customers, consultants, and other IT stakeholders to provide subject matter expertise and guidance in order to ensure timely completion, testing, publishing, and reporting for compliance of assigned documentation;
  • Support the writing of templates and ad hoc reports;
  • Facilitate, coordinate and manage communication of issues
  • Provide written weekly status updates to include timeline, risks and challenges.
Preferred Skills/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity of technology related to networking and server environments
  • Familiarity of Agile methods.
  • ITIL Foundations
Hours of Support:
  • The support hours will be during regular business Monday – Friday. Some occasions off hours’ work may be required for upgrades, testing and/or deployment activities.
Additional Provisions:
  • Pass both a client mandated clearance process to include drug screening, criminal history check and credit check.
  • Once candidate’s resume is approved and interview passed, the agency is responsible for providing drug screening. Failure to submit the drug screening results will delay the security clearance process.
  • If a candidate is given an interim clearance, continuation of employment is then based on the candidate receiving a sensitive clearance.
  • All candidates must be a US Citizen, or have permanent residence status (Green Card).
  • Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
  • Cannot have more than 6 month’s cumulative travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members).
  • All overtime must be pre-approved in writing by the client manager or his/her designated representative.
  • Agency will not be reimbursed for overtime charges without previous written authorization. Authorized overtime will be reimbursed at straight time.
