IT - Business Systems Analyst II (Functional)

Location: VA, Remote

Intermediate position and REMOTE

Analyst, Functional - Intermediate:

Under general supervision, has duties of instructing, directing, and checking the work of other project technical staff. 

Responsible for the completion of assigned technical projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines. 

Leads a technical staff assigned for the duration of a project or may function as ongoing lead for technical staff associated with one or more technical areas. 

Does not have formal supervisory responsibilities, although may provide input for (project) team member performance appraisals. 

Typically performs all functional duties independently.

Required Skills/Experience

• Focus on Requirements and assessment of high level designs

• Highly skilled in working the requirements and early design phase of projects.

• Business Process Re-engineering

Experience with:

• Organizing requirements/discovery work-sessions.

• Working with business users to analyze, document, and refine business processes.

• Document use cases, scenarios.

• Produce detailed requirements, specifications, user-stories to hand off to developers.

• Review and improve customer acceptance test plans

Additional Required Skills/Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years experience in business analysis, software development and/or related field;

• A degree from an accredited College/University in Software Engineering,  Computer Science, Business or related discipline is preferred;

• Able to perform all functional duties with the assistance of more senior personnel;

• Knowledge of and experience in software development and testing, preferably using different methodologies and lifecycles (e.g. Waterfall, Agile, etc).

• General familiarity and experience with project management methodologies/disciplines, especially in the areas of scope, cost and schedule management;

• Experience leading small teams and/or technical projects in the successful completion of assigned goals/objectives;

• Able to write and review a broad range of technical documentation, especially technical specifications and design documents;

• Able to obtain Postal clearance;

• Good communication skills.
