General Description:
The Virtualization Administrator will provide support to Virtual Infrastructure and other Infrastructure Systems for Iowa Workforce Development.
Job Description:
The position requires someone that is detail oriented with a strong desire to provide exceptional service. The ideal candidate will perform a variety of assignments associated with VMWare systems including but not limited to Horizon, NetApp and Windows Systems administration. The Virtualization Administrator will be responsible for the design, administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance of VMware systems, hosting hardware, storage infrastructure and Microsoft Windows servers. This position requires the ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written correspondence) in a professional and courteous manner with technical and non-technical personnel. NOTE: Will be required to be accessible 24x7 in case of emergency
RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESXi scripting and automation in support in server commissioning and maintenance
Diagnostic of and troubleshooting common guest / host issues
Monitor resources usage, making required adjustments for host / guest issues
Virtual machine creation, cloning, and configuration
VMware cluster configuration
VMware Horizon maintenance and support
Maintain network security by managing host security, file permissions, file system integrity, and adding and deleting users Virtual Center administration and troubleshooting
Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration
Excellent oral and written communication skills; including documentation
Develops and maintains appropriate system documentation to ensure that documentation is current and accurate.
Maintain high level of proficiency in all VMware and Microsoft technologies
Assist with user access and group polices configuration and deployment
Serves as a backup to Windows and Virtualization Engineer staff
Administer NetApp storage solutions as needed
Build, Deploy, and Update Horizon Parent Images for Desktops and Applications
REQUIRED/DESIRED SKILLS:
Managing and implementing projects with Windows System Administrator
and Active Directory [REQUIRED – 5years]
Implementing projects requiring VMware experience, including vSphere
and administration of VMware clusters {REQUIRED-5 years]
Experience with enterprise-level virtualization, designing, implementing and
maintaining VMware ESXi servers and clusters [REQUIRED – 5 years]
Previous experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure [REQUIRED – 3 years]
Experience troubleshooting system level problems including server failure
and OS tuning [REQUIRED – 3 years]
Strong knowledge of storage solutions and how to integrate
them on the clusters (SAN/NAS) [REQUIRED – 3 years]
Knowledge of networking integration into aVMwre ESXi and
hands-on troubleshooting common problems [REQUIRED – 3 years]
Strong knowledge of MS Windows Server 2012 and newer,

Experience with capacity planning, monitoring, and maintenance of
VMware clusters with VMware Infrastructure/vSphere [REQUIRED]
Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy,
LDAP, SMTP, and TCP/IP networking [REQUIRED] Experience with Cisco UCS and FI [HIGHLY DESIRED]
VCP Certification [HIGHLY DESIRED]
Bachelor’s degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science, preferred [NICE TO HAVE]
