The Mobile Engineer builds platform functionality and participates actively in the delivery team by taking on development responsibilities for Ally’s mobile application. The mobile engineer leads the development, design and strategy of our platform. Our mobile engineers identify and capitalize on emerging technology trends, spot industry trends, and leverage outside-in thinking to demonstrate the art of the possible within technology. You’ll impact millions of customers through your work building the next generation of our award-winning mobile experiences.

Build highly usable features and improvements to Ally mobile applications ensuring that the code follows latest coding practices and industry standards

Engage with Product Managers and other stakeholders to create world-class customer experiences for the mobile channel

Craft code that meets our internal standards for reusability, style, maintainability and secure best practices for a high-scale digital financial solution. Maintain and advocate for these standards in code reviews

Solve technical problems of high scope and complexity.

Work in an Agile environment and gain exposure to continuous integration and delivery tools and build consensus regarding project direction.

Work cross-functionally to resolve and understand complex technical and design issues

Serve as a mentor for junior engineers and peers in the mobile development practice to help them grow in their technical responsibilities and remove blockers

• 2 – 5 years of experience designing and developing cohesive, highly usable iOS native mobile applications 

• Ability to think thoroughly about systems and services and write high quality code. We work mostly in Objective-C, Swift, Swift UI, iOS SDK/Frameworks, REST APIs, and JSON. 

• Experience developing with React Native • A self-starting mentality and passion for experimentation, with success creating highly performant, optimized websites. 

• Comfort dealing with change and ambiguity, and excitement for moving quickly 

• Deep knowledge and interest in tech concepts, strategies, methodologies, and their application to business opportunities 

• Passion for creating value for the customer, and enthusiasm for Agile processes that help develop these products 

• Desire to work within a diverse group of people and passion for challenging the status quo 

• Experience working in an Agile Development environment 

• Experience as a Mobile Engineer on a cross-functional agile team 

• Strong communication skills with ability to communicate complex technical concepts and align organization on decisions 

• Strong collaborator on all aspects of teamwork. Accepts feedback, learns from mistakes and provides a positive attitude 

• Capable of managing time effectively and juggling competing priorities. 

• Hands-on experience in Java and JavaScript and/or TypeScript 

• Believes in culture of transparency and trust and open to learning new ideas outside scope or knowledge
