Job Description
Seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer contractor to join our team, responsible for the development and maintenance of our WIC (Women’s/Infant/Children) .NET, MVC, and Web Forms website. The successful candidate will have a strong background in web development using .NET technologies and possess a passion for creating efficient, scalable, and user-friendly web applications. The selected resource will play a key role in the design, implementation, and enhancement of our web platform, contributing to the success of our organization and delivering exceptional user experiences. 

Job duties:
1. Design and develop robust, scalable, and secure web applications using .NET MVC and Web Forms technologies.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to gather requirements and define project specifications.
3. Take ownership of the entire software development lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing and deployment.
4. Identify and address performance bottlenecks, ensuring optimal performance and responsiveness of the web applications.
5. Troubleshoot and debug complex issues in the application, providing timely and effective solutions to maintain system stability.
6. Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, adhering to industry best practices and coding standards.
7. Participate in code reviews to provide constructive feedback and ensure code quality.
8. Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in .NET technologies, incorporating them into the development process when appropriate.
9. Work with the DevOps team to streamline the deployment process and ensure seamless integration of the web applications with existing systems.
10.Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to develop comprehensive test plans and perform thorough testing to guarantee the reliability and functionality of the applications.
11.Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment within the team.

This position will be a FULLY REMOTE POSITION and the candidate will remote into a supplied developer workstation through the Idaho Dept of Health and Welfare’s Portal. To successfully work remotely, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Home Office Setup: The candidate must have a dedicated home office or workspace that is conducive to productive work. This includes a reliable high-speed internet connection and a personal computer that meets the necessary hardware and software requirements (latest OS and Virus software) to support the development environment.  The candidate will supply their own hardware necessary to connect/remote to a department provided developer machine via the department portal.
• Team Collaboration: Even though this is a telecommuting position, the candidate will still be required to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Therefore, strong teamwork and collaboration skills are essential.
• Adherence to Company Policies: The candidate must comply with all department policies related to telecommuting, data security, code management, and any other relevant policies and procedures.
• The candidate will need to install WebEx on their personal computer to be able to connect to IDHW servers when they are required to be present for online meetings.  Audio and visual are required (when requested).

Skills Matrix
5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, with a focus on .NET MVC and Web Forms web development.Required 5 Years
5+ years of experience in C#, ASP.NET, and web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap and jQuery.  Required 5 Years
3+ years of experience in database design and SQL, with experience in MS SQL Server or other relational databases. Required 3 Years
1+ years of experience working with version control systems, preferably DevOps.  Required 1 Years
Solid understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and architectural concepts.Required 
Experience working with agile software development methodologies. Required 
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges. Required 
EXCELLENT communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive and adaptable approach to work. Required 
Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience. Required
