Job Description: Job Title: Saas Cloud Architect – Systems Engineer SME
Location: San Mateo, CA
Citizenship: US Citizen or Permanent Status Green Card Holder Position requires 3 days of work/week minimum at the above facility, while the other 2 days/week can be worked remotely.
Note: Resource must be available to work onsite at client facility in San Mateo, CA.  

Under general direction, have duties of instructing, directing, and checking the work of other project engineers. Responsible for developing strategies for technical IT infrastructures and the completion of assigned engineering projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines. Leads a group of engineers, analysts, and/or technicians assigned for the duration of a project or may function as ongoing lead within a group of engineers associated with one or more technical areas within the telecom function (such as, but not limited to, network design, engineering, implementation, or operations/user support). Does not have formal supervisory responsibilities, although may provide input.

Description:
Project objectives: Support Client Network and Compute Technologies (NCT) staff in meeting requirements and deliverables related to SaaS deployments in vendor managed Cloud environments or migration projects from on-prem to Cloud environments. 

Requirements:  
  • 10 years’ experience in the deployment, configuration, and management of Cloud services. Cloud focus currently is Azure and Google Cloud Platform but could include work within Amazon Web Services. NCT is responsible for ensuring success of infrastructure and operations needs for Client and it’s hosting options: On-Prem, Clouds, and Vendor Clouds (SaaS).
  • Knowledge of industry best practices for Cloud, maximizing efficiency of cloud resources, and general knowledge sharing of cloud expertise with NCT Cloud Staff
  • 10 year ‘s experience with Cloud migrations from on-prem environments to Cloud environments or in deploying SaaS services in vendor Clouds. Also assist with operationalizing deployments and support of Cloud services for NCT Operations. This will include standardizing and automating processes and workflows, creating documentation/knowledge articles, and overall assist Operations staff who have limited experience in Cloud. 
  • Excellent written and oral presentation to high level Client CIO management on status of current efforts

Requirements: 
  • 10 years ‘s experience deploying and operating services on a public cloud framework.
  • Familiar with service designing and pricing in the context of cloud-based solutions.
  • Experience with working on cross-function initiatives requiring collaboration among business and technology stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of deploying change leadership/management initiatives to realign how business works.
  • Experience with technical and security architecture, database architecture, virtualization, software design, software development, IP networking, Linux, Agile development, SCRUM, application life cycle management, .Net, Java, PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby on Rails, Pig/Hive, technical solution architecture, SOA, MS Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services
  • Technical skills and competencies: Application Architecture, Automation and Orchestration, Governance, DevSecOps Methodologies, Integration Architecture, Outsourcing/External Hosting, Information Security
  • Non-Technical Skills:Critical Thinking, Subject Matter Expertise, Change Leadership, Communication and Collaboration, Delegation, Vendor Management, Program Leadership
  • Strong skills and experience in regard to Cloud Operations support in Azure and Google Cloud Platform 
  • Strong Experience supporting large scale/enterprise level Cloud environments.
  • Strong Experience supporting several cloud services related to compute, network, databases, etc.…
  • Experience of automation/orchestration using any of the following: Ansible, Ansible Tower, Terraform, YAML, Jenkins, or equivalent.
  • Fluency in at least one scripting language (Python, Perl, Ruby or equivalent)
  • Ability to troubleshoot cloud resource problems and perform complex system tests.
  • Develop and maintain accurate documentation for internal procedures and services.
  • Ability to automate solutions to repetitive problems/tasks.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies and cloud services.
  • Integration of Git, in continuous deployment
  • Experience with DevOps monitoring tools 
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service

Additional Requirements/skills: 
  • 10 years ‘s experience as an Architect and in deploying the DEV, SIT, CAT, PROD environments.
  • Ability to define and deploy all integrations required for the environments.
  • Familiar with complete customizations of code as required in each environment.
  • Ability to define the following test criteria for each environment:
  • End-to-End testing
  • Integration testing
  • Load/Volume Scalability testing
  • UAT testing
  • Ability to define cutover criteria from on-prem environments to Cloud environments.
  • Experience defining monitoring requirements for all integrations, compute environments, network environments.
  • Experience defining Service Level Agreement terms to measure SaaS vendor performance.
  • 10 year ‘s experience as an Architect and in deploying the DEV, SIT, CAT, PROD environments.
  • Ability to define and deploy all integrations required for the environments.
  • Familiar with complete customizations of code as required in each environment.

Desired Skills: 
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking at scale
  • Ability to break down complex networking concepts and present them in a concise way.
  • Shell scripting experience
  • PowerShell 
  • Kubernetes

  • A four-year degree in Computer Science or a related field is required. An equivalent combination of education or experience in computer or telecommunications architectures, systems analysis, and management of information technology may be substituted.
  • Additional Provisions:
  • Pass both a client mandated clearance process to include drug screening, criminal history check and credit check.
  • All candidates must be a US Citizen or have permanent residence status (Green Card).
  • Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
  • Cannot have more than 6 months’ travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.) 
  • All overtime must be pre-approved in writing by the client manager or his/her designated representative.
